Abstract

The growing incorporation of AI into the training and clinical practice of veterinary doctors requires guidelines that ensure quality, animal welfare, and professional responsibility. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze how artificial intelligence (AI) can be integrated into undergraduate programs in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, by identifying competencies, risks, and opportunities through a literature review of publications from 2015 to 2025 in PubMed and Google Scholar. The ten studies reviewed reveal a growing interest among students and professionals, and they document specific benefits in areas such as diagnostic imaging, clinical simulation, and the search for scientific evidence. On the other hand, these same studies emphasize the importance of maintaining constant pedagogical supervision, advancing toward multicenter validation processes, and ensuring the reliability of the models employed.
