Research as a Social Factor of the University Toward the Community
Abstract
Society faces multiple challenges, and the institutions that compose it are increasingly concerned with repairing damage and solving the problems they must confront. In this sense, the university plays a fundamental role in the search for universal ideals, as it possesses a defining element since its foundation: scientific research.
By nature, universities promote knowledge and social service. Their service to the community is carried out in various ways, but rarely through research, as it is usually applied only in complex cases due to the greater effort it requires. Therefore, this article conducts a literature review with the objective of encouraging universities to make a social contribution to the community through research as a key factor. The purpose is to provide greater objectivity, technical rigor, professionalism, and significance to the services that universities offer to society as a whole.
