Heuristics: challenge of the equilateral triangle solved by teachers of Higher Secondary Education
Keywords:

The objective of this paper is to identify the heuristics of Higher Secondary Education (EMS) mathematics teachers when solving an equilateral triangle problem. It is contextualized in the concern for the mathematics performance of Mexican EMS students. It is based on a case study. In the findings, four mathematics teachers at EMS combined several heuristics when solving an equilateral triangle problem, starting from a unique approach, reflecting their experience and professional preferences. The conclusions highlight the heuristics used by teachers, underlining the importance of reflecting on their solution processes and sharing strategies with their students to promote mathematical reasoning. The relevance of integrating these strategies in the classroom to promote a deeper and lasting understanding of mathematics is highlighted.
